How-To: Heathrow ---> Regent's University

Getting to Regent's University from the airport may seem nerve-wracking, but it's actually easy. Don't psych your self out. You have directions and you can speak the language. Plus, the Tube is not as complicated as it looks; you can easily navigate yourself around.

You have four options:

1. London Underground – the “Tube”. Follow the signs to the Underground, get on the Piccadilly Line (the only line from Heathrow) and stay on until Piccadilly Circus which will take about an hour. Change here to the northbound Bakerloo Line (brown on the Tube map) and get off at Baker Street Station. A single fare will cost £11.80*.

2.Heathrow Connect. Air conditioned trains run every 30 minutes, and take around 25- 30 minutes to Paddington. Single ticket to Paddington Station costs £10.20*. From Paddington take the Tube (Circle Line eastbound - the yellow line) to Baker Street or get a taxi (tube ticket costs £6.50*, taxi costs approximately £9.00*).

3.Heathrow Express. Direct train service to Paddington Station. This non-stop train runs every 15 minutes, and takes 15 minutes. It costs £17.00* for a single ticket. From Paddington take the Tube (Circle Line eastbound - the yellow line) to Baker Street or get a taxi (tube ticket costs £6.50*, taxi costs approximately £9.00).

4. Taxi. This will cost around £45 - £85*, depending on traffic. Ask for "Regent’s University London, on the Inner Circle of Regent’s Park". All taxis take cash and some accept credit and debit cards. If you wish to pay by card make sure to tell the driver beforehand.

Once you reach Baker Street:

  • When you exit Baker Street Station, follow the signs for Madame Tussauds on Marylebone Road. You will pass this on your left

  • Take the first left turn onto York Gate

  • Cross over the Outer Circle and walk into the Park

  • After you cross over the little bridge, you will see the University on your left

  • The first entrance is into the car park. Don't go there; keep walking until you see the

main entrance

  • The walk from the tube station will take around 8-10 minutes

Personally, I chose option #3 and I took Heathrow Express because I was tired from my flight. I wanted to get to the university as fast as possible. Then, I took the Tube to get to Baker Street. I recommend getting an Oyster Card, which is a reusable pass that returns the £5 card fee and any unused, leftover amount. It'll save you more money in the long run, trust me. Rest assured, the transportation system is organized (there are large signs and arrows telling you where to go) and there are attendants standing by to answer general questions. Don't hesitate to ask for help! They're super knowledgeable, helpful, friendly people who can direct you to the right platform and they even give great advice and suggestions on possible places to visit in London!
